Flow Velocity

Metal hoses have limitations in case of fluid with high flow velocity, causing resonant vibrations, resulting in premature failure of the assembly. Liquid or gas applications conveying media at high velocity should use an interlock liner.

Velocity in GPM ( gallons per minute ) :

( GPM ÷ ( Inner Diameter^2 )) x 0.4083

Example :

Consider a Stainless Steel Corrugated Hose of 2 inch NB Diameter, having water flowing at 400 cubic feet per second, with the hose installed in 90° Bend.

Based on the above details, calculated flow velocity :
( 400 ÷ ( 2 ^ 2 )) x 0.4083
= 40.83 feet/second.

Since the calculated flow velocity 40.83 feet/second is more than 37 feet/second, a liner is not required for this application.
